Obituary of W. Ronald Brinton
W. Ronald Brinton, Jr., 76, died peacefully at his home in Port Royal, South Carolina on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
Born in Downingtown, PA on October 16, 1945, Ron was the son of the late W. Ronald Brinton, Sr., and Janet Marshman Brinton. He graduated from Downingtown High School in 1963 and the University of Denver in 1967.
Ron married Sherry Stoop Brinton in 1966 and they enjoyed 39 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2006. He was fortunate to find happiness again with his wife, Holly Moore Brinton, to whom he was married for almost 16 years.
A successful 29-year career with Gillette took Ron and his family to many different cities across the country, with every move bringing the opportunity to enjoy new experiences and to form new friendships. He also traveled widely both within the U.S. and internationally and had strong ties to his Gillette family throughout his life.
Following Sherry’s death, Ron became very involved with Angels Among Us, an annual charity event that raises funds for research at Duke’s Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, where Sherry received treatment. He and Holly (whose late husband was also treated at Duke) served as planning committee members for many years, with Ron serving as chair of the event for three years. Ron was also a member of the board of advisors for the Brain Tumor Center. He was very proud of his involvement with Duke and Angels Among Us, the millions of dollars raised for research and the many strong connections to other families whose lives were affected by brain tumors.
Ron was a proud father and grandfather. In addition to his wife, Holly, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Terri Brinton of Cary, NC; daughter and son-in-law Heather and John Parker of Falls Church, VA; daughter Mumphie Moore of Aldie, VA; daughter Neely Moore of Fairfax, VA; and grandchildren Samantha Bea and Mara Brinton, and Hannah and Sam Parker. Additionally, Ron is survived by many loving extended family members and friends.
Ron will be remembered for his sense of humor, his kindness, his love of good food, a nice glass of wine, the Port Royal Farmer’s Market, the Red Sox and the Denver Broncos, and time spent with family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, October 8th at 2:00 p.m.
