Obituary of Mollie Ellis Davis

Mollie Elizabeth Ellis Davis, died July 2, 2013, surrounded by family, at her residence - The Stratford House of Chapel Hill, NC.
Born January 13, 1925, in Wilson County, NC, Mollie lived most of her life in NC and Virginia. She attended Business Secretarial School after graduating in 1941 from Edgecombe County High School on the grounds of the current South Edgecombe Junior High School in Pinetops, NC.
In addition to raising her two daughters, she held many administrative jobs and retired in the spring of 1987 as Tax Collector for the City of Havelock, NC, to become a full time "Gran". While actively involved in her church (Norfolk, VA, Piney Green, NC, and Havelock, NC) and her daughters' schools, Mollie influenced more than one generation of young people who often called her "Mom" and then in later years; "Gran." Mollie definitely was a woman who loved people and loved to laugh and she taught those around her how to as well.
Surviving is her brother, Hubert Devon Ellis of Pinetops, NC; her daughters and their spouses including: Deborah Davis-Noell and her husband, Doug Noell of Chapel Hill, NC; Darlene Davis Deaton and her husband David Deaton of Woodbridge, VA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, and one great grandchild: Scott Ellis Noell, Wilmington, NC; Katrina Elizabeth Noell, Chapel Hill, NC; Constance Celeste Deaton, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Caitlyn Ellis Deaton, Ferrum, VA, a great ground child and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ida Pearl Webb Ellis and Noah Ellis, her sisters, Rosa Pearl Ellis Edwards, Mary Louise Ellis Boseman, Virginia Estelle Ellis, Doris Marie Ellis Dowdy, and her brothers Paul Dee Ellis and Chester Mitchell Ellis.
Services will be Friday, July 5th at 11:30 AM at Walker's Funeral Home, 120 W. Franklin St, Chapel Hill, NC, with the Reverend Doctor Dennis Hill, officiating. Visitation will be at 10:30 AM. A graveside service will be held at 4:30 PM at the Pinetops City Cemetery, Pinetops, NC.
