I am deeply saddened to read about Malcolm. Although like separated us by miles (I live in Lavon Texas) I would occasionally call Malcolm. He and I served in the Navy in VF-74. He took me home with him to meet his mom, dad, sister, and aunt. They were the most hospitable folks a man could very visit. I cherish the time I had with all of them. Unfortunately I last saw Malcolm in 1973 when I got out of the Navy headed back to Texas for the future.
I tried calling Malcolm at the number I had for him. That is when I got online and found this posting.
Best Regards to you all.

Libby and family,
I have many treasured memories of Cedar Grove, and one of the best is the smiling face of Malcolm at Aycock School. He was one of the very nicest people I knew at Aycock, and was a tremendous role model, being one of the "older guys"! (The basketball trips with the varsity team were a highlight of my time at Aycock)
Even though I didn't "keep up" with him during my years away, I knew he was in Cedar Grove, giving to that community as so many people have over so many years. I know he will be greatly missed. My best to you all, and you all live brightly in my memory.

To Libby and the rest of the family---what wonderful memories I have of teaching you and Malcolm in the 8th grade. And your mother's wonderful cooking..so sweet in giving me extra cherry pie in the lunchroom!!! If I remember correctly, Malcolm also played basketball at OHS when Fred Claytor was the coach. Malcolm was sweet and kind, a wonderful steady influence on his friends!!! Know that I think about you all. With love and kind memories...Sara Claytor
