Leon was a wonderful friend. He always brightened my day. He loved to tell stories covering things all along his life. The stories covered sweet, interesting, history, people he met and characters of all sort.
He would fill me in on history when he went to the Wyatt Earp Museum in Arizona. He could tell me the history in detail of clocks that he was repairing to work again. It was neat seeing a wood part of a clock from the early 1900's that he had to get in touch with someone to make a duplicate wood part just like it. He could not replace it with a metal duplicate. He loved going to his clock shows in TN & FL.
When we went out to lunch, one of our favorites was going to Hard Times Cafe on Glenwood Ave, Raleigh NC. He loved chili. We sure were disappointed when Hard Time Cafe closed.
Leon was a wealth of knowledge and could tell the best stories dealing with the history of his life. His stories would make us both laugh.
A fabulous friend has left this earth, but will always be in my heart. Leon, thanks for the wonderful and interesting memories that I will always cherish. I loved you as a dear friend and will surely miss you !!! Frankie
