Obituary of George Donald Dodson

MEBANE -Mr. George Donald Dodson, 83, 3200 Jim Lowe Drive, Mebane, died Thursday, April 18, 2013. He was born on November 9, 1929, in Alamance County, son of the late Collie McKinley and Agnes McAdams Dodson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired owner and operator of Dodson Service Station and a member of Eastside Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Mark Thomas Dodson and one brother, Collie M. Dodson. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Knight Dodson; son: Steven M. Dodson of Wilmington; daughters: Donna A. Dodson of Wilmington and June E. Dodson of Mebane; sister: Catherine D. Moore of Mebane; grandchildren: Christie Doss and husband, Jay, Brandon Dunn and Mark Dodson; great grandchildren: Jordan, Kayla, Logan, and Payton; and nephews: Ricky and Tyler Moore Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday in Eastside Baptist Church by Pastor Chuck Perkins. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:45 PM Saturday prior to the service and at other times at his home. Pallbearers will be: Logan Doss, Payton Doss, Kenneth Daniels, Charles Hartman, Pat Dodson, Timmy Dodson, Stacy Hughes, Tyler Moore and Paul Walsh. Honorary pallbearers will be: William Dodson and Manley Dodson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Walker's Funeral Home, 304 W.
