Obituary of Dorothy Dixon Allen

Chapel Hill Dorothy "Dot" Allen, 86 died at home in Chapel Hill on March 10, surrounded by her family. Dot Passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was the daughter of the late Rom Dixon Sr. and Etta Dixon. Dot was born in Jones County and moved to Durham in the early 60's. She worked for many years in the hospitality field and home daycare. Dot was gifted in the kitchen and will always be remembered for her bountiful meals. Dot is survived by a daughter, Barbara Whitman of Chapel Hill, four sons, Don Allen, Ray Allen, Rick Allen and Steve Allen all of Durham. Also left to cherish her memory are fifteen grand children, twelve great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Walker's Funeral Home in Chapel Hill on Wednesday, March 13 at 3pm. Chaplin Tom Hehenberger will officiate. The family will receive friends at Walker's after the service and at the home of her daughter Barbara in Chapel Hill.
