I was confirmed by Pastor Herb at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Lindenhurst. He greatly influenced me in more ways than he would ever know. I became a pastor in 1997 and have served in the military chaplaincy as well. He was a great pastor and an even better man. He was loved and respected by SO many and what a beautiful life he had serving the Lord. Love you, Pastor Herb. Until we meet again!

This man influenced so many i am one. I think of his lessons almost daily. He knew I was a super active parishioner and I used to draw during the sermon. I explained that I went to art school and for me to listen well I need to doodle. He and I worked well his service was just the amount of time I needed to draw Nazareth. We often laughed at that. I learned more from Pastor Herb. I’m definitely one of the blessed ones! My condolences to Marge (I think I met you once before I left RuralHall), and Sandra and his sons. I am saddened to lose my friend but as someone else stated that man is in heaven or the place doesn’t exist. Much love, Shannon

Don Herb, a beautiful and outgoing man. I had the privilege of ‘water walking’ with him during these last six months. His humor and robust style of living spoke to my heart - he was a buddy to laugh with and to share stories of our lives. Best times together were spent vigorously singing about the flower edelweiss with our entire water class. I will forever think of Don when I hear Edelweiss. His leadership of the Hokey Pokey was pretty outstanding as well! Don was amazing and joyful. It was an honor to know you sir. May God continue to comfort your family. You will be missed here. The angels are already laughing and singing!!
