I am broken hearted; not that "Dick" is now in heaven with his loved ones, but that I was not informed as to his passing so that I could be there to pay my overwhelming respects for a unique man....a man of honor....a man of strong faith...of dedication to his country, his family, his church, to EMS services, to his place of employment so many years, the Boy Scouts of America and the Highland Games. One might question if "Dick" had time just for himself, but it seemed to never cross his mind. Dick was my mentor...he was my buddy.....I built his "Cat House" which was his hobby house and always asked if he still used it only to be once again thanked for its quality. When I last talked to him back in October/November, he said that he was fine and now he is gone.....I did not get to tell him how much I cared...how greatly I appreciated his friendship...his devotion. I will, though, always have James R. McCallum in my heart.....see you on the "other" side partner.....

I am writing this Tribute on behalf of the Clan MacCallum-Malcolm Society of N.A. Dick McCallum was a proud member of this Scottish heritage society for many years and attended many Scottish Games. He will always be remembered by all of us as a great and good man, with a smile on his face and joy in his heart! As you can read in his obituary, he was a man of many interests and accomplishments, and was a mentor to many of us in the Society and in the other organizations that he belonged to. The Clan Society was an important part of his life, and he received the "Order of Merit" recognition from the Society for his many years of distinguished service. We will all miss him! We were so sorry to hear about Dick's passing. He was a great person and will be missed, especially on the Highland Games circuit where he was such a fixture. Our deepest sympathies to Dick's family.
