Chapel Hill – Mrs. Louise Ray Roberts, 91, wife of the late David B. Roberts, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 1, 2019.
Mrs. Roberts was born on November 17, 1927 in Burnsville, NC. She attended Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, NC. She was a longtime member of Orange United Methodist Church. Mrs. Roberts was the co-owner of Johnson-Strowd-Ward Furniture Company for many years.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her son, Tommy Ray Roberts, and his wife, Linda, of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Jamie B. Roberts, Jody T. Roberts, and his wife Joanna, Jana R. Smith, and her husband, Chuck; great-grandchildren, Maylynn Smith, Allie Roberts, Thomasjames Smith, Emily Roberts, Lauren Roberts, Brandon Roberts, and Madison Roberts.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Nancy Ray Roberts, her parents, Horace Ray and Ada Hensley Ray, and her brothers, Daniel Ray and Charles Ray.
A graveside funeral service was held Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 3:00pm at Orange United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Mrs. Roberts caregivers. For the past nine years, she was very blessed to be under the care of the late Dollie Weddle, Becky Echerd, Connie Cole, Sue Sabo, Polly Johnson, and Michelle Hanson.
