I saw Sara and Dexter performing in a pie shop. It was a PIE SHOP, and she drummed like she was playing for all of creation.
It was a golden evening in a world with too few of those. Thank you, Sara and Dex.

I was feeling a bit down and the lovely advice I was given was "remember a time of comfort and nestle there". I closed my eyes and opened my cubby hole of "comfort memories", and there I saw a little girl with a freckled nose and straight hair smiling at me, it was Sara. We were both 7 (so 50 years ago!) and I was a bit shy in 2nd grade at Epiphany School, but Sara took me by the hand and we skipped out to the playground together, hand in hand smiling and laughing. A rush of happiness surged over me! Amazing how that small gesture from her so long ago still brings me joy!
She moved from our little town of Venice and we didn't stay in touch. I think she would've gotten a kick out of knowing I married the boy she walked home from school with so many days as children...
Sara and the Romweber family are fondly remembered here in Venice......

Sara was an inspiration since I first saw her in Let's Active on the Cutting Edge show in 1983. I didn't know who D.J. Fontana (Elvis Presley's 1st drummer) was until she mentioned him. She was a charasmatic powerhouse! I will miss her.

I saw her with Lets Active in 1983 opening for REM on the Murmur tour at the Beverly Theater in Los Angeles. What a great show that was! I just learned today of her passing. How very sad. And Faye Hunter is also gone. I saw them in their prime and I will never forget them.

Just learned of Sara's passing today. I had the good fortune to meet her a couple of times when she was in Let's Active. She was always gracious and I very much enjoyed speaking to her. I still have a holiday card from the band from that time.

I know it’s been a few months since Sara had passed on,but I just received an issue of modern drummer yesterday in my mailbox and read the sad news. I’m 54 years old and I can still remember the day when my friend loaned me the record with “every word means no” on it. I was amazed by her unique drumming style,the special pauses between bridge & chorus,and those accents at just the right places. I discovered her brothers band,flat duo jets,not long after and I was off to the races with a one way bus ticket to NYC,and my own drum style utilizing Sara,Mitch Mitchell & Gene Krupas big beat sound. I eventually bought most of everything she recorded on. So sorry for your families loss -may god bless you all.

lucky to have seen her perform...saw her with her brother....told a biz friend a big band like cheap trick should hire her....i caught myself in thought about a personal accolade of being a great female drummer....what a disgrace i though mid thought...she is a great drummer period...she could have drummed for led zepp or the who or anyone...rock and roll is freedom and rebellion....she embodied it all

I was amazed by this person and feel sad for the family. I will never forget her . I feel lucky to have met her once and have seen her play twice here in upstate N .Y. She and Dexter are among my most admired musicians I have been lucky enough to have met and seen give all to thier performances.
I cannot convey my feelings verbally or accurately but she lived in a way one can only admire. I really hope the Romweber family knows how much we have grown to admire them and the memory and legacy Sara has left us with. I honor her memory!

I did not know Sara, but as a teenage drummer, I found her work on "Afoot" a revelation. I bought that EP my sophomore year of college, in upstate SC, and played it over and over for several years. More good tunes and performances on that 5-song EP than on most albums. I'm sorry to hear of her passing. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends. Sara rocked.

It's taken me a while to come to grips with this - I haven't even wanted to confront even Dealing with Sara's Death.
For those who didn't know her I wish you could have, she was a sweet, fantastic, creative, funny person and an incredible drummer. She was a true artist - I will miss her - she was always vibrant and full of life. I could talk with her all day. Sweet and giving She made the world a better place to be. I wish I could relate what an truly unique and incredible person she was but words won't fit.
I wish I could have done anything for her.
There will always be an empty space that can never truly be filed. I wish her the very best in whatever afterlife there is.
Selfishly, I wish I could play one more song with her.
Those fortunate to Know Sara Romwebber will know exactly what I mean.
Remember she's not gone as long as you keep her presence with you. She's just a part of a bigger world now.
Sara, I hope your world is a much better place It's definitely fortunate and improved by your mere presence.

It always brightened my day to run into Sara at the music stores and will always have fond thoughts of ornamental hermits. She was one of the most delightful people I ever met. I posted an attempted portrait on Dexter's FB page, not because I have experience as a painter, but rather because it seemed the thing to do. I felt she would view it with wry humor.

We have been lucky enough to have known Sara for many years and often went to see her perform with our son, Craig.

Sara was a great close personal friend of mine
since the early 1980’s. We had a lot in common, were born a month apart and I loved her for her wonderful sense of humor, her beauty and her outlook on life as well as her amazing talent as a musician. I will miss her so much. Although we haven’t talked much since my time playing guitar with SOP, I felt her spirit and thought of her often. I wish the Romweber's my sincere condolences and sympathy and I know that so many people are grieving as Sara affected so many lives in such a postive and deep way.

I'm so sorry. I didn't know Sara well but feel like we lost part of our community. She's been a fixture since I arrived here in the early 1980s. Most of my personal interactions with her were at the Music Emporium in the late 1990s and early 2000s where I bought my daughter's violin paraphernalia. I always enjoyed going in there because she was so down to earth and easy to talk to. She was a lovely person.

My condolences to the Romweber family. I will truly miss seeing the "little drummer girl" at the store. When did see her she always brightened my day! When it was cold, windy or rainy and I would pump her gas for her (I didn't want her to melt or get blown away) she would act as though I had given her a million dollar winning lottery ticket. We were just acquaintances but when we saw each other she acted as if I were her long lost friend.

When Sara agreed to be my first Music Explorium employee in 1999, I had no idea how perfect she would be. Despite coming from the power-pop and punk world, she always wore a dress or skirt, and cut her own hair in a distinct style. She preferred to wear black, and when asked if it was her favorite color, she replied, “Black is not a color, it is a hue.” Publicly shy like me, Sara relished our retail role of turning people on to unusual instruments, and was quick to demonstrate subtleties of tone. Her sweetness and enthusiasm were contagious! Retail was just a cover for her real mission - spreading curiosity about new sonic worlds, and inspiring the young and old to play more music!

Sara always looked to tough on stage. Years ago, I remember thinking, "I wouldn't want to get on HER bad side!" Then I got to know her when the Duo somtimes headquartered with my husband Jeff Walls and me when they came through Athens. She was always up first and we would talk about everything.
