Obituary of Donnie Ray Dement

Donnie Ray Dement, Jr, 48, of Mebane , died Friday March 29, at Duke Hospital after a 7 month battle with renal clear cell carcinoma.

Donnie was the husband of Sharon Dement , the loving father of Alec and Evan Dement, and the son of Donnie Ray Dement, Sr (deceased) and Sue Tolotta Hughes.

Donnie was the owner of a Residential Cleaning service.  He enjoyed coaching various sports, including baseball, basketball, and football.  He was very family oriented and enjoyed the yearly Cam Fest Beach Trip among other trips with friends and family.  He was very grateful for the HYAA, Walnut Grove Church and Orange baseball families.  They were a source of tremendous love and support through his battle.

In addition to his wife, sons, and mother, he is survived by his step mother Tammy Wakefield, brothers Bradley Dement, Gary Overbey (Crystal), Howard Hobson (Jennifer), sisters Brenda Dement, Janet Freeland (Lany), mother-in-law Carol Moore (Randy), father-in-law James Overbey, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.  He was preceded in death by his father Donnie Ray Dement Sr,. sisters Peggy Dement and Wendy Dement Baker.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 11:00 am at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, 7215 Walnut Grove Church Road, Hurdle Mills, NC 27541. 

The family will receive visitors after the service in the fellowship hall.
