Obituary of Billie Jean Parker

Please share a memory of Billie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Billie Jean Parker was a kind soul with the most generous heart.  The world and our family lost the most important person in our lives on July 15th, 2019 when she passed away suddenly in her home.

Billie was born May 25, 1933 to parents Leonard and Florence Riddle.  She was the oldest of eight children and begun what became her life’s calling at a very young age and that was to take care of her family.   Everyone knew Billie as “MamaBillie” because that’s what she was whether you were blood related or not.

MamaBillie was a daughter, a wife, mother, aunt and best friend but most importantly a person with an unwavering love of God.  She felt her calling in life was to live in servitude of our lord, family and nearly anyone in our community that needed her.  She gave all she had to give and more to others and never put her needs at the forefront.  She touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

MamaBillie was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Florence Riddle, siblings Bucky Riddle, Christine Taylor, Robert Riddle. Floyd Riddle, Sue Randall, Daughter Carolyn Parker, Grandson Rodney “Scrappers” McNeil Jr, Husbands Jerry Taylor Sr. and Thomas Parker

She was survived by her Daughter Vickie Lee, Grandsons Chris and Jason Lee as well as their spouses Lisa Crider and Christina Brack, Great grandsons Trevor, Caden and Bryson Lee, Dana, Mark, Randon and Claire Crider, siblings Paul Riddle and Linda Stallings, ex-spouse Clyde King and son in law Rodney McNeil.

She had a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and more and she touched the lives of all.

A wake and service will be held at Walker’s Funeral home at 204 N. Churton Street Hillsborough, NC Friday, July 19th from 12:30 – 1:50 pm, services will follow from 2 – 3 pm.  All are welcome to follow the procession from Walker’s to the burial at Mt. Hermon Baptist in Durham.

Walker's Funeral Home of Hillsborough is entrusted to the care of the Parker family.
