Obituary of William Wade Uber

William Wade “Bill” Uber, 88, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Chatham Ridge Assisted Living in Chapel Hill, NC. He was born May 29, 1931 in Homer City, PA, the son of Ida Belle Jobe and Simon Wade Uber and moved to Springfield, OH as a young boy. He was a resident of Palm Beach county, FL for over 40 years and Durham, NC since 2005. Bill graduated from Springfield High School in Ohio and received a bachelors degree in forestry from Ohio State University.
Bill served for two years in the Army Air Corps as a radio specialist during the Korean War. Over the years, Bill was employed as an Arthur Murray ballroom dance instructor, high school math teacher, stock broker, real estate salesman and electrician. His greatest joy was his children and family. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved nature, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by two children Wayne Uber (Kathy) of Chapel Hill and Lisa Uber Ferrara (Tony) of Boerne, TX, 3 grandchildren (Marc, Kevan & Kristen) his great grandson (Lorenzo) and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son Jeff Uber, his brothers Wayne and Ray, and sisters Dorothy, Iona and Larue.
Appreciation is extended to the staff at Chatham Ridge Assisted Living who lovingly cared for Bill for two years. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. Memorial services will be held both in South Florida and in Springfield, Ohio at later dates.
