Every morning during our shift video briefing, you could count on Jimmy to flip me the bird. He'd stay off camera and slip it into view just before sign off. It was a great game we shared via text, or driving around town. It was the kind of thing that was perfect for firehouse life. You knew it was going to happen and even when he was out taking care of Tracy or getting his own treatments, his crew would pass it on like a message being delivered to the front line. That was Jimmy. Just as much as we could count on him to be at work wheeling the ladder or begrudgingly acting as the officer, you could count on him. Even when times were really, really tough, he'd be real with you, and eventually crack that smile. We'll always remember Jimmy for that.
