My prayers and condolences go out to Eric, Matthew and all the family. I've known Denise since 2007 when we started playing in the Bronze Voices Handbell Choir together at United Church of Chapel Hill. That entire time our bell positions were next to each other, which really gave us an opportunity to get to know each other. Although I considered myself an experienced bell player, I learned so much from Denise and she was always there to offer advice, or help turning a page or picking up a bell or chime when I couldn't get to it, or helping me learn a new skill or technique... she was always at the ready to help. And boy did she love handbells! Even as she got weaker as the disease was progressing, she would still come to rehearsals, and learn a piece that she could perform with the bells at church. Such dedication! Denise, you will be missed! Love, Betsy Crittenden
