Obituary of Louise Frances Frost

Louise F. Frost, a Rye, NY resident from 1957 to 2012, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 5, 2020 at the age of 91 at her son’s home in Chapel Hill, NC.  Born and raised in Detroit, Louise graduated from Cooley High School and the University of Michigan with a BA, majoring in music with a focus on classical string instruments. 

She also was self-taught and proficient in piano, guitar, and ukulele, had a marvelous singing voice, and composed and recorded dozens of her own songs in addition to maintaining a large repertoire of popular folk and country songs.

Louise was best known for her kindness and friendship with all who knew her, as well as her charity work with the Woman’s Club of Rye and for the United Hospital.  Louise was happiest when doing for others, such as performing her songs, raising resources for good causes, and making people laugh with her gentle wit, humorous notes, and homemade greeting cards.

She also was a sportswoman who enjoyed badminton, tennis, golf, deep-sea fishing, and shotgun competition.

Louise was predeceased by her husband of fifty-six years, Jim, and is survived by her brother Richard Leonard (NY, NY); sons Jeff (with Susan, Chapel Hill) and Matt (with Sue, Boston); grandchildren Sarah (with Dominic, Chapel Hill), Steven (with Paige, London), Michael (with Anna Kate, Charlotte), Andrew (with Chris, San Francisco), Katie, Emily and Carly; great grandchildren Connor and Liliana; and nieces Suzanne (Hanover, Germany), Elizabeth (Waterville, ME), and Claudia (Sao Paulo, Brazil).
