Obituary of Gisela Mayse

Gisela Mayse, 85, of Chapel Hill passed away on Thursday, October 29^th, 2020 at UNC hospital after a short illness.

Gisela was born in Heilbronn, Germany on November 10^th, 1934. She came to the states in 1952 and married Raeford Mayse in December of that year. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Raeford J. Mayse and her son David Mayse. Gisela was a long-time active member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church of Durham, NC and retired from People’s Security.

Gisela is survived by her daughters: Becky Ellis (William), Peggy Mason (Johnny), Pam Casto (Scott), Tina White and Morgan Mayse and her son Ronald Mayse. Her grandchildren: Lori Crawford (Tommy), Lisa Parrott (David), Clint Edmonds (Billie), Christopher Casto (Annie), Jordan Casto, and Alexander Mayse. Her great- grandchildren: Dustin Ellis, Brandon Ellis, Shelby Edmonds, Hunter Casto, Colton Casto and Summer Casto. Along with her great- great- grandchildren: Brayden and Mason Ellis.

A funeral service will be held at Mount Hermon Baptist Church, on Sunday, November 8^th, 2020 at 2pm with Pastor Rich Goodier and Pastor Jerry Harper preaching. The service will also be available over livestream on Mount Hermon Baptist Church’s YouTube channel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mount Hermon Baptist Church, 4511 Old State Hwy 10, Durham, NC 27705.
