Obituary of Henry Wilton Andrews

Henry Wilton Andrews born April 30, 1933, died Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at his residence.
Wilton also known as “Witchie” was born and raised in Carrboro, NC. He attended Chapel Hill High School where he played basketball and baseball. He was drafted into the Army and served in Korea during the Korean War. Wilton was employed with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of NC, retiring in 1999 after 34 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Carrboro United Methodist Church and an avid Tarheel fan. He was a Tarheel Born, a Tarheel Bred.
Wilton loved spending time with his family and enjoying numerous trips to the beach. He loved the beach and all sports especially Tarheel basketball. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He would talk for hours with anyone who would listen about sports, his years growing up in Carrboro, music, and about how Carrboro and Chapel Hill had changed over the years. His love of history aided in his memories of the things he loved most. He loved country and rock music of the 50’s and 60”s and would often quote song lyrics to make a point. He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife Virginia Lewis Andrews of 62 years; his daughters, Faye Dunn (Randy) of Fuquay-Varina, Donna Cornett (Darvin) of Snow Camp, Sue Clark (Todd) of Chapel Hill, Dianne Callahan of Mebane; grandchildren, Patrick Hewett (Rachel), Marc Cornett, Rebekah Dawkins (Lance), Jessica Evans (Nick), Rickie Clark (Tiffany), Gray and Jared Callahan; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Gavin Cornett; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry E. and Fannie Douglas Andrews.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 2:00pm in Westwood Cemetery, corner of Fidelity and Davie Street in Carrboro. Officiating will be Revs. Adam Seate and Kori Robins. For all thos e attending, please wear a mask and observe social distancing. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the The Rams Club, P.
