“Will” William S Endres Jr, age 75, of Hillsborough , NC, formerly from Charleston, WV, died on January 24, 2021 from complications of injuries after an accident.
Will was born 7/28/1945 in Savannah Georgia, and was raised in Charleston, WV. He was a renowned herbalist, wildcrafted and outdoor educator. Will was a remarkably gifted mentor and teacher, and changed the lives of many people as he encouraged them to learn they are part of the natural world, and to embrace instead of fear nature. He also was a documentary photographer. some of his work is archived at the Smithsonian American Museum.
He was preceded in death by his father, William S. Endres Sr, and mother Alice Johnston Endres of Charleston, WV. He is survived by his son, “Sean” Stanley W. Endres of Boulder, CO, and his sister, Diane Endres Spring of Pacific Palisades, CA. He is also survived by 5 loving nieces and nephews.
His cremation services will be provided by Walker’s Funeral Home in Mebane, NC. Due to concerns about Covid, a celebration of his life will be postponed until it is possible for his many friends and family to safely come together.
