Obituary of Linda Lee Kaufman

Linda Lee Kaufman of Chapel Hill passed away on Sunday, April 11 at the age of 73. 

Linda was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Dr. Karl Kaufman and Florence Steinhauser Kaufman.  She grew up in Hendersonville, NC and later relocated to Chapel Hill to be near family.  Linda loved music and nature.  Sports, especially her UNC Tarheels, were a passion!  She treasured her family, friends, church and community.  Of her friends and community, Linda’s family would particularly like to recognize Crystal Crisp for her friendship and assistance and Orange County Emergency/911 dispatchers for their friendship and understanding.  

Linda was predeceased by her parents, her much-loved older sister, Joyce Kaufman Moore, her brother-in-law, Joseph Ira Moore, Jr., and her nephew, Joseph Karl Moore.  She is survived by her niece, Victoria Lynn Moore, of Chapel Hill.  Linda also leaves two four-legged fur companions, Lucky and Pipkin, who were loved by and loved her very much.

The family wishes to thank UNC Hospitals Hillsborough medical personnel for their outstanding and compassionate care of Linda.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021, at Shepherd Memorial Park in Hendersonville, NC at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be considered to either Orange County Emergency Services/911 Division, P.O. Box 8181, Hillsborough, NC  27278 or the Orange County Department of Social Services for its Adult Services, 113 Mayo Street, Hillsborough, NC 27278.

The Kaufman family is under the care of Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill.
