Isaac Clayton Dollar passed away Sunday morning, October 28, 2012. Nicknamed 'Brownie' by close friends and relatives, Clayton was born on June 9th, 1920 to the late Earlie and Mamie Dollar in Chatham county. He was the middle son of three boys born to the Dollars .Clayton was predeceased by his older brother Ben Hall and younger brother Henry Clyde (Ike). Clayton attended Chatham co schools. During the Great Depression he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC's), where he worked on the North Carolina Blue Ridge Parkway and was subsequently assigned to the state of Oregon. In 1941 Clayton enlisted in the United States Navy , where he was assigned to the troop carrier USS Westpoint (AP-23) . After the war Clayton worked at the Pontiac Motor Company in Michigan where he met and married Iva Belle Brantly in 1954 and relocated back to Chatham co where he worked in television repair. Iva passes away in 1991 and Clayton remarries in 1993 to Verble Williams. Clayton was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a former Commander. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion , and Veterans of Foreign Wars ( Post Trustee 1989-91). He was a Deacon at Lystra Baptist Church and Superintendent of Sunday School for many years. Clayton is survived by his second wife Verble Dollar , five nephews; Richard Dollar, B.H.Dollar, Bruce Dollar,Isaac (Ike)Dollar and Don Dollar , and one sister-in-law, Jean Dollar. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2pm at Lystra Baptist Church . Family visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. The Dollar family is under the care of Walkers Funeral Home, Chapel Hill.
