Obituary of Jewel Lloyd Crawford

Jewel Lloyd Crawford, 94, of Hillsborough, NC, went to her heavenly home on September 5, 2021.  Jewel was born November 30, 1926 in Mebane, NC, to George T. and Phoebe Stone Lynch.  Graduating from Mebane High School as class valedictorian, she completed her education at Burlington Business College.  Beginning her business career with White Furniture Company in Mebane, she later worked over 30 years with North Carolina Blue Cross Blue Shield as Executive Secretary to three former NCBCBS Presidents.  

Along with her parents, Jewel was preceded in death by former husbands Clarence Lloyd and Joel Crawford, brother G.T. Lynch, sister Marie Sikes and stepson Sam Crawford.  

Jewel is survived by daughter Sandra (Earl) McKee, son Fred (Kathy) Lloyd, step daughter Cynthia (Bobby) Riley and step daughter-in-law Pat Crawford.  Also surviving are are grandchildren Jamie Caruso, Erin Reid and Robert Moore; and step grandchildren Brad McKee, Rachel Dramis, Don Riley and Flinn Crawford. She also is survived by 10 great grandchildren.

Jewel loved the Lord with all her heart; beginning every day in devotion and by reading her Bible.  She served her church and community with love and grace.  She loved her family with her whole heart.  

A funeral service will be held at Cane Creek Baptist Church on Friday, September 10 at 10:00 AM.  Weather permitting, an outdoor service is planned.  The family will receive friends at the church after the service.  Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing protocols are encouraged.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cane Creek Baptist Church at 6901 Orange Grove Road, Hillsborough, NC 27278 or Community Hospice at 2730 Tucker Street, Suite 600, Burlington, NC 27215.  Donations to the charity of your choice in Jewel's memory will also be appreciated.  

The family wants to thank the staff of Elmcroft of Hillsborough for the loving care, kindness, support and respect they provided for Jewel.  The family also wants to express their appreciation to the staff of Community Hospice for their tender hearts and compassionate service to patients and their families.
