Probably shouldn’t admit to all of this but this is for those of you all reading through these remembering Alec for everything he was. First off he was my first best friend and true partner in crime. Starting off with potty training with me convincing him to stay quiet while I climbed on the counter to steal the potty training m&ms if I agreed to share the stash. Not much changed to the later years sneaking mom moms cookies in the freezer outside. I think if anyone could convince him to do anything it was me. Then again I did everything with him like I said he was my friend before I had friends. We started a little stick fighting club in the woods with the neighborhood kids, and we would finish our homework super quickly to have time on our fort before it got dark. Obviously I was the leader and alec led the strategy. Which seams to be a pattern haha. In school I would often bribe him to do my homework since he had already done it because I got stuck with all of his teachers. Which ultimately led me to fail the end of grade tests, so I eventually had to give up that system. Summers were quite the time with him we would spend time working on our lego city listening to kesha play on the radio. Kesha was super important especially when we were left alone for the first time we found ourselves making a music video to TikTok by kesha (which if you listen will know maybe not the best song to do at the age of like 10). What’s funny is he continued to be wrapped in all of my creative projects like editing or filming which he would sigh and say okay but you owe me. Listen I was very fair with my trades which is why the hustle continued for so long until he realized they weren’t fair. Once he figured it out we just ended up taking our lego cities to Minecraft spending Christmas upstairs playing and watching the whole Star Wars saga. For a while growing up I remember waking him up at the crack of dawn so we could get the most out of our technology time because what’s ma and dad woke we had to get off. Which we often hustled by making “breakfast” for them to distract them a little bit longer. I would be lying if I said I hated being the sister to a GENIUS especially having to follow him up for every class. The teachers would get me and expect me to be able to spell supercalifragilistical (you know what it is) or know mathy things and I’d be like I can draw this really pretty picture.OMG and all the car rides with him were dreadful he basically spoke a different language ONLY talking about technology. the love he had for my cat Cuaté was like no other. I swear Alec was the only one he let (Besides me) do whatever to. Alec would annoy that cat like no other yet he’d still come running when Alec would call him. Which reminds me it’s a good thing Cuaté came with a name because Alec would’ve named him caty since he took any animal name and added a “y” to the end of it. If you think I’m joking he named our first car Cary which I obviously fixed to be Beyoncé! Either way there’s no way I can put all the memories we had throughout my whole life with him in this little thing, but this is the alec I remember, and got the special privilege to call my partner in crime.

I don’t know if you remember but one tome you visited us in Raleigh, and Alec kept asking you to “boss mommy”. He wanted to hear you do it. Another time I brought the kids to work with me and you told them you would try to find them a cookie. He would not let you forget it and next time he saw you, he asked you if you were going to them a cookie again

Alec,
The world is a little sadder place without you.
May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
You will be missed. RIP.

Recently I’ve become a “google form expert” in my school. I’m one of a few teachers in the building that has learned to Code. I owe that to Alec. He would listen to me as I shared some of my ideas to make my teaching more effective. And he’d say “yeah Flo you can definitely do that” then he’d start explaining how (and I’d get lost). He’d get a twinkle in his eyes describing the steps to get to my goal. He had on several occasions taken my ideas and found a way to make it happen. He opened the door for my coding journey and teaching me how to be better at Data keeping and recording. In fact every google form I’ve worked on since, stems from the first one he did for me! I remember I called him when I got as far as I could by myself and he said, “share it with me I’ll help you.” I loved problem solving with him and I was always in awe of how he could work through the task at hand. He was so incredibly talented and he loved sharing that love with others. Here he is during “cousin camp” working on one of those ideas.

I worked with Alec at MetaMetrics and was instantly impressed with his knowledge and curiosity.
I'm grateful that I did get the opportunity to meet him a few times in person.
He'll be missed by myself and everyone in the office very much.

Alec was a smart and caring young man. Although we were not immediate family he was always welcoming of our family to add to the craziness. He brought his own humor to the table and will be missed at family gatherings! Almost always willing to share his Mexican cokes at the beach and ALWAYS loving on his pup and even mine. Thinking of the family and Alec’s memory. Xoxo

I’ll always remember and treasure our “Cousin Camps” for a few summers we were fortunate to have Alec and Vera stay with us. We tried to plan fun activities for them while they were here. Alec would always play along and never complain if my ideas were not his favorite or a little corny. He’d gladly join us mini golfing or some other toddler friendly idea, but he always wanted to know “when can I go to Patrick’s (my dad’s)?” Nonetheless, He’d always be fully present and connect with us throughout. I loved that he joined us for these activities. It allowed us the chance to laugh with him and really get to know him. Never have I ever met someone whose core food values aligned so perfectly w mine. I’ll really miss you my Mexican coke, chocolate cake, hamburger, and French fry loving buddy.

Alec was a caring, generous, and simple guy who enjoyed treating himself with some of life’s little delicacies such as chocolate (any type), a dessert/cookie,and a tasty Coke product. One of my favorite stories of Alec was when he would sneak out to the garage of his house as a child and sample some of Mommom’s famous cookies without anyone noticing… until the cookie container was empty. I know those little adventures brought him much enjoyment and satisfaction - and were totally worth it for those cookies! Though we will miss him greatly, may Alec be able to enjoy more of those in his restful place.

Alec and I worked together closely when he first joined MetaMetrics. He was so curious about software and constantly shared new discoveries with me and the team. Our team uses screenshots of each other's faces like emojis, attached are a couple of Alec's emojis, "alec" and "critical-thinking-alec". I will miss Alec dearly.

I remember the first day Alec started working at Cerebri AI. He had a nice navy blazer on (which he kept for a long time in the office, for formal occasions I guess!) with a big smile on his face and ready to get to work! I couldn't believe all the things he knew about computer programming at just 20 years old, he was a genius!
The photo was taken on December 19, 2019 when we went out in a very cold DC day to have our Christmas lunch!
We will miss you, Alec!

I am the manager of the Washington DC officer at Cerebri AI where Alec was a software engineer. Alec was Cerebri AI true and true. He was creative, dedicated, curious, and funny. We took him as one of our own because he was. He took on tasks others could not or would not do because he was giving. The banter about web scrapping or where to go or when to go to lunch were precious.
May his memory be a blessing.

I loved working with Alec during his time at Cerebri. He was quiet, shy, super intelligent, smart and it seemed like he was born to be a techie. I will miss him. Please accept my condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
