Obituary of Rachel Hawkins Cole

Rachel Hawkins Cole, 94, of Hurdle Mills went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.  Born April 14, 1927, in Orange County, she was daughter of the late Lottie Rountree Hawkins and William Walter Hawkins.

Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm W. Cole (1963).  Also preceeded in death by brothers, Willard Hawkins, Frank Hawkins and Alvin Hawkins; sisters, Sarah H. Norris, Edith H. Davis, Lottie H. Lynch and Nannie H. Webster Odom.  Surviving are her son, William D. (Bill) Cole (Sydney) of the home and daughter Donna Gurtner (Earl) of Leasburg; two sisters, Marie H. Lucas and Peggy H. Terry (Nick); four brothers, Kenneth Hawkins (Carolyn), Wade Hawkins (Shelby), Warren Hawkins (Mary Lee) and Fred Hawkins; four grandchildren, Heather C. Hartsoe (Matt), Charlene P. Starr (Steve), Mac Cole (Linsey), Charles C. Parker (Donna); eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  Also, many many nieces and nephews.

Open Graveside Service will be 1:00 PM on December 27, 2021 at Walnut Grove UMC Cemetery. Reverend Mike Sykes officiating.
