Obituary of Deborah Marie Musson

Please share a memory of Deborah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our early to bed, early to rise, Tar Heel-following, cell-phone holding, dog-loving, theater-going, life-loving, always on the go, wife, mom, sister, daughter and friend, Deborah Musson, decided there were no more texts to answer, no more 6 am walks to make, no more schedules to sync, no more restaurant take outs to order with amazing red wine. She decided that she was done sparring with cancer and that she had gifted to us all of the love, joy and beauty in her heart. It was time to take her boundless and radiant spirit to join her mom Barbara, and dear family and friends who have gone before, to a place beyond big enough to take her all in.

Deb was blessed in this life with, and fiercely loyal to, her children, Joshua (JT), Rachel, and Rebeccah. Deb was and always will be their foundation; nurturing, loving, lifting and supporting them every single day - always.

Born in Monterrey, California, Deb made her way across the country spreading her positivity everywhere she went. Deb graduated from the University of Dayton and loved her Flyers dearly. She made her way from Ohio, to Texas, to eventually settle in Chapel Hill where she made her home for the last 16 years.

While excelling at a professional career, Deb was always able to keep her family a priority through her amazing ability to organize and plan. She was an incredible volunteer, helping in each area of her children’s passions - from cheerleading, to swim team, to theater, to jump rope, Deb was there. And in the midst of her busy day, her friends would get a “checking in” text to make sure all was good with them as well. Throughout her life Deb cast a wide net, drawing to her many cherished friends who became family.

Deb was adored by Will who swept her up and spoiled her. They enjoyed spending time on their boat and at their condo in Wilmington, time working at the farm, and beautiful sunsets in Boone. Always an adventurer at heart, Deb loved to travel both nationally and internationally and loved having Will by her side.

Deb will forever be remembered as a devoted mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She was a fighter, an optimist, an accomplisher, a non-complainer and a “do-er” . Her influence and love will live on in everyone she touched and she will forever be with us.

She is survived by her husband, Will Moss (Durham, NC), son, Joshua (JT) (Durham, NC), daughters Rachel (Dallas, TX/ New York City) and Rebeccah (Dallas, TX), brother, Adam Krumholz (Dayton, OH), father, Harvey (Linda) Krumholz (Charlotte, NC), and family and friends too numerous to count.

To honor Deb, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Medical Foundation of North Carolina, Inc. for the benefit of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center Donate Here or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Inc. to support the Team in Training program Donate Here.
