Obituary of Phillip "Phil" Joseph Harward

Phillip "Phil" Joseph Harward, 63 - Hurdle Mills, NC - March 14, 1959 - August 10, 2022

Phil made his journey home to be with the Lord on August 10, 2022.  He is survived by his wife Susan, who was always by his side, his children; Zac Harward and his wife Etsuko of Mebane, NC, Brittany Hill Gabriele and her husband Chad of Chapel Hill, NC and James Windom of the home.  He is also survived by his mother, Lavanda King Harward of Four Oaks, NC; two brothers, Don Harward (Michelle) of Grafton, WV and Mark Harward (Frances) of Durham, NC; two sisters, Diana Bell (Ronnie) of Four Oaks, NC and Kathy Eccleston (David) of Roanoke, VA.  He is pre-deceased by his father, Bobby Joseph Harward. 

One of his greatest joys in life, was being known as "Pa" to his cherished grandchildren, Tyler Harward, Leah Harward, Madison Gabriele and Carson Gabriele. 

Phil retired from Otis Elevator after 42 years in the business.  After retiring he enjoyed working at his son's business a few days a week.  He loved playing golf with his golfing buddies and spending time with his family.  He couldn't think of a better way to spend the day.  

The family would like to thank the many family and friends that supported them over the past few months.  We are grateful for all the love and kindness we received.

A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family simply asks that you do something kind for someone or make a donation to your favorite charity.  

Walker’s Funeral Home in Hillsborough is assisting the family.
