Obituary of Martha Cox Cleary

Martha Cox Cleary 74 of Hillsborough, N.C. went to heaven on Oct. 15, 2022 at the Duke Hock Pavilion Durham, N.C after a long illness. She was born on June 30, 1948 in Hillsborough to James Plyler Cox and Fay Harris Haines both deceased. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Charlie E. Cleary and daughter Erma F. Cleary of Hillsborough, N.C., sisters Beth Cox Davenport of Eden.N.C.,  Jamie Cox Judino and husband Paul of Lakeland, Fl., and  Jan Cox Woods and husband Jim of Lakeland, Fl.

Martha retired Feb 2010 from Duke University Perkins Library after 43 years of service.  She was a devoted member of Hillsborough United Methodist Church.   Martha was very civic minded, a member of the PEO Sisterhood Chapter F for many years holding many offices, member of the American Legion Axillary Unit 452 Schley serving as president for many years,  a member of the Board at Passmore Center, a member of the Kiwanis of Hillsborough.  She served on the Board of Directors of OE Enterprises of Hillsborough. She was a devoted mother and wife.

Memorial Service will be held on Nov. 20, 2022 at Hillsborough United Methodist Church, 130 W. Tryon St, Hillsborough, N.C, at 11:15 A.M. after the 10:00 AM Church Service. Family will be greeting after the memorial service.
