Please share a memory of Morris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Morris (Mo) Worley left us on March 29, 2023. But he also left us with many accomplishments, many lives touched, and a distinguished career.
He served in the Army for 22 years. Much of that time was in the Army Special Forces. His first tour in Vietnam and Laos resulted in serious injuries. The award of the Distinguished Service Cross was for actions in January 1967. He later returned to serve in Thailand and the tri-border area.
As a member of Class 2 of the Sergeants Major Academy, he later returned to become an instructor and curriculum development officer.
His last assignment was Command Sergeant Major, 14th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
After retirement, he taught JROTC in North Carolina for 14 years, and then joined the UNC Dental School as an information manager.
Many will remember him as the adjutant of the Legion of Valor, a veterans group, composed of Medal of Honor and service cross recipients. He also lent his database skills to the Special Forces Association and the Special Operations Association.
His was a life well lived, and he quietly served as a volunteer fireman in his community for 20 years.
He will be greatly missed by Pamela his wife of 53 years, his daughter Jackie, and two grandsons.
Services are being planned for burial at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Walker's Funeral Home in Chapel Hill is assisting the Worley family.
