Obituary of Rodney Edward Colling

Rodney E Colling, 79, of Mebane, NC went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2023 after a lifelong battle with stubbornness.

Rod was born September 16, 1943 to the late Willard and Vivian (Stock) Colling in Albany, NY. He graduated from Albany High School in 1962 where he was a member of the AHS Band, Orchestra and the Jesters Club.

Rod served as a volunteer firefighter for Verdoy Fire Department in Latham, NY from 1967 to 1971. He worked at various levels of management in auto parts and heavy equipment parts, loss prevention at Grand Union Stores and retired from Wakenhut Security in 2001.

A lover of animals, Rod adopted and fostered dogs and cats from shelters, rescues and took in strays until he was too weak to take care of himself.

Rod is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Beverly, his brother, Clifford and sister-in-law, Rose and countless 4-legged fur babies.

Rod is survived by his 5 children, David (Tammy), Barbara (Shawn), Brian (Tandy), Jeffrey (Jolene), Michelle (Matthew), his 8 grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Querra, Taylor, William, Justin, Micah, Matthew and 4 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Bonnie, McKinley and Weston.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to your local animal shelter and/or consider bringing a fur baby home.
