Beverly Warmath
October 25, 1939 to May 5, 2023
Beverly died at Brookdale Memory Care in the Clare Bridge Program on May 5, 2023 in Chapel Hill from complications related to Dementia, she was 83.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years John G. Warmath III,
and recently her sister Toby Kaplan.
Beverly was born October 25, 1939 in NYC, NY to her parents Sam and Evelyn Morowitz. She was the eldest of 4 siblings Arthur, Jeffrey and Toby.
She graduated From Bayside H.S. class of ’57 in Bayside Queens NY.
Beverly persued her creative interests at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn NY- where she met her husband, and graduated in 1961 with a BFA in Fashion Design.
Beverly later returned to Pratt to work in the school of Engineering as an Administrative Assistant. She later became the Director of Academic Advisement and Admissions Liason for the School of Art and Design in a career at Pratt that spanned 30 years.
In 1984 Beverly received her Masters Degree from Bank Street/Parsons School of Design.
Throughout her career she helped many students achieve success in pursuing their arts focused degrees and careers. She forged strong collegial relationships and lifelong personal friendships with professors and instructors at Pratt who themselves were professional artists.
Upon her retirement she moved with her husband John to his hometown of Humboldt,Tennessee. In retirement she enjoyed dabbling in many creative pursuits. She enjoyed quilting, became an active member of the local garden club, antiquing, and volunteered with demonstrations of early textile practices at the Cotton Museum at Green Frog Farm. She enjoyed all the opportunities these activities afforded her to meet new people.
In her later years the advancement of her dementia necessitated her move closer to her daughter Georgia in Chapel Hill, NC.
Beverly died surrounded by the love of her caregivers and daughter Georgia.
Beverly is survived by daughters Georgia (Michael) of Chapel Hill, NC and grandchildren Matthew and Sarah,
and
Janna (Asif) and grandchildren Adam and Zoe of Port Washington New York
She also leaves brothers Arthur and Jeffrey, Brother-in-law Walter, many nephews cousins and friends.
Janna and Georgia wish to especially acknowledge the loving and dignified care provided at Brookdale by her caretakers, and the comfort ensured by Authoracare hospice in her final months and moments.
Her smile, hugs and special sense of humor will be missed.
Final arrangements are for private services for family in NY.
