Obituary of Linda Grills

Linda Grills died in her home on September 18, 2023 in Pittsboro, North Carolina due to complications related to pancreatic cancer.  She was 81.

Linda was born on January 2, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio to her parents, Elwood and Lenita (Shaw) Randall. She graduated from Fairview High School in Dayton, Ohio and attended both Miami University in Oxford, Ho and Baylor University in Waco, Texas

She married her beloved husband, Arthur Grills, in 1963. After several moves, the Grills settled in Perrysburg, Ohio, where they raised their two children, Melissa and Michael.  Linda worked for many years for the Daniel-James Insurance Company, and devoted countless hours to volunteering through Grace United Methodist Church and in support of the Perrysburg public school system. 

Upon retirement, Linda and Art spent several wonderful years in Hertford, NC, and were active members of the Hertford United Methodist Church.  When Art passed in 2011, Linda moved with her two cats to Pittsboro to live closer to family.  She was an active Nana to her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.  She was a member and former president and treasurer of the North Carolina chapter of P.E.O. International, an avid gardener, and loved all her fur babies.

Surviving are a daughter, Melissa Robinson and husband, Dennis, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; a son, Michael S. Grills of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister, Cheryl Hamilton of Troy, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Austin and Blake Grills and Maia and Hannah Robinson.

The family will hold an open house on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at Walker’s Funeral Home (120 W. Franklin Street Chapel Hill, NC 27516)
