Obituary of Stephen Andrew Hammond

Stephen Andrew Hammond died unexpectantly at his home on November 23rd, 2023 in Candler, NC.  

Stephen was born on March 7th, 1974 in Edenton, NC, and was adopted by his parents John and Mary Hammond in 1979. Sadly, his mother Mary died in 2011.  He attended Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools and worked in several Chapel Hill area businesses before moving to Asheville, NC where he attended Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and obtained a Certificate in Culinary Arts. He worked as a chef in several restaurants in the Asheville area. 

Stephen is survived by his father John and daughter Alexandria D. Hammond of Gadsden AL. His maternal and fraternal grandparents predeceased him. Stephen loved sports and played in the initial years of the Rainbow Soccer Program in Chapel Hill.  

Stephen will be interred in the columbarium at Memorial Cemetery in a private ceremony at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Charles House Association, 7511 Sunrise Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27514, htttps://charleshouse.org.
