Lee Sowder, of Mebane, NC passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024 surrounded by his family at the age of 87 years old.
Lee is survived by his wife Donna, his sister Pat Lewis of Ross, OH, niece Michelle Fehring of Colerain, OH and his children; Greg Sowder of Cincinnati OH, Tim Sowder and wife Colleen of Goffstown NH, Randy Sowder and spouse Kean of San Francisco, CA, his grandson Blake Sowder, wife Megan and great grandson Landon Sowder of Dunbarton, NH and granddaughter Makenzy Sowder of Merrimack, NH.
Lee was born November 7, 1936 in Cincinnati, OH. He graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 1960 with a degree in Industrial Design. As a proud football player for Sycamore High School and Miami University, he was recruited by Ara Paerseghian in 1956. In ‘2013, Lee was voted into the Sycamore High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
His professional career spanned several decades in Advertising, as Design Mgr. for Formica Corp. and prior to retiring, as Director of the GenCorp Design Center in Salem, NH.
As a competitor, he enjoyed golf and has the trophies to prove it! Lee was also a prolific artist working in the mediums of oil, acrylic, and watercolor. Most fulfilling was the 20 years delivering hundreds of meals for “Meals on Wheels” in the community.

Lee will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor and as a loving husband, father, grandpa and super proud great grandpa. “Until we meet again in heaven”
