Obituary of Katinka Bates

   Katinka “Tinka” Bates, 74, of Hurdle Mills, NC, passed away on January 24, 2024 from her long battle with cancer.

   Mrs. Bates was born on May 22, 1949 in the Netherlands, then came to America in 1959 with her parents Bob and Meak Stok.  She happily married Larry Bates in 1981 until he passing in 2005.  Mrs. Bates worked at the Central School system for 29 years providing counseling to the children  in Orange County.  Mrs. Bates is survived by her daughter Christina Kinton; Step Daughters Justice Warren, Sarah Murden, and Page Meaks, Grandchildren Ashley, Steven, and Jessica Kinton, Ann Stuart Pride, Jackson Pride, Hope and Grace Murden.  Mrs. Bates was a passionate horse lover and could often be found in her barn taking care of her horses and beloved cat Louie. 

   Mrs. Bates will have a memorial that will take place in February 1, 2024 at 1:00pm.  The location will be at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Hurdle Mills. All are welcome to attend and come together for the beautiful life of      Mrs. Bates!
