Obituary of Frances Elizabeth Lackore

Frances Elizabeth Tollefson Lackore (née Wuebbens) of Pittsboro, North Carolina passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024 after a long and blessed life.  She was 91 years old.

Fran was born on July 7, 1932, to Everett Peter Wuebbens and Tennie Wuebbens (née Kalkwarf) in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  She is survived by her children, Norris M. Tollefson Jr. of Cumming, Georgia, Paula Lackore Rule and her husband Gordon Rule of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Karla Lackore Thompson and her partner Michael Parker of Pittsboro, North Carolina, and Everett Peter Lackore and his wife Janette Lackore of Weston, Florida, grandchildren Michael, Hannah, Ashley, Derrick, Sean, Casey, and Brandon, and two great grandchildren, Mia and Mason.

Fran was a Lutheran minister’s daughter, a military wife, a loving mother, a passionate artist, and a warm and loyal friend. She worked for the Virginia Beach Public Schools for over twenty years as a first grade teacher’s aide. After retirement, she pursued her art studies at Tidewater Community College.

 Fran was preceded in death by her first husband Norris “Tolly” Tollefson, her second husband Raymond “Ray” Lackore, her sister Marjorie Peterson, her brother Everett Peter Wuebbens Jr., and her granddaughter Karla Elisabeth “Elissa” Rule. 

Walker Funeral Home in Hillsborough, North Carolina, is handling the cremation. There will be a celebration of life and memorial service at Virginia Beach Methodist Church (212 19th Street in Virginia Beach) on Friday, June 28th, 2024, at 11:00 AM.  She will be interred at Princess Anne Memorial Park later that day. In acknowledgment of Fran’s generous spirit, please consider a donation to the charity or non-profit of your choice or a random act of kindness in lieu of flowers.
