Obituary of James Leslie Foster, Jr.

James Leslie (Jim) Foster, Jr., born December 20, 1938, in LaPorte, Indiana, passed away in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on June 23, 2024. He was the son of James Leslie and Mary Louise Foster.

After graduating from high school, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indiana University and worked as an accountant at Arthur Andersen LLP in Chicago until his retirement. More recently, he served as the business manager for the Radiology Department at UNC Healthcare in Chapel Hill until his second retirement.

Following his career, Jim supported numerous non-profit organizations in the community and was actively involved in the Indiana University Alumni Association locally and nationally.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Foster; his two sons, Kenneth (Cheryl) Foster and John (Linda) Foster; and his daughter, Kristen (Tim) Siemsen. Three stepchildren—Deborah (Vijay) Shah; Suzanne Havens (Kevin Cohan); and Robert McDonald (Rima Izem)—a sister, Janice Scott; several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive.
