Obituary of Robert Romeyn Sprentall

Robert "Bob" Romeyn Sprentall was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He left this world on July 17, 2024 at age 83 after a prolonged hospital stay. He was in the loving presence of his son Robert, his daughter-in-law Erin and his two grandchildren Amber and Logan when he passed.
Bob was born to Dorothy and H. Robert Sprentall on April 24, 1941. He was raised in Rochester NY with his two brothers Richard and David. In his youth, he enjoyed swimming and spent multiple summers as a camp counselor at the YMCA.
After graduating from Irondequoit High School, Bob attended Oberlin College then transferred to Northwestern University where he studied broadcast journalism.
Bob met his first wife, JoAnne Jones, in New York. Together they had two children, Peter and Cyndi, who they raised in Park Forest, IL. He met his second wife, Lynn Stevens, while living in Chicago. Together they had one child, Robert, who they raised in Sawyer, MI.
Bob had a career working in radio and television news for WMAQ and NBC in Chicago. Over the years he took on a variety of duties including conducting and editing radio interviews. After relocating to Southwest Michigan he started his own video production company, Cyan Video Production.
In the early nineties Bob began to lose his vision. He attended the Bureau of Services for Blind Persons Training Center in Kalamazoo. Over the years Bob found friendship and community in the Vision Searchers blind support group of Bridgeman, MI of which he was a founding member.
In 2022, Bob relocated to Chapel Hill, NC to be close to his youngest son Robert. He enjoyed listening to audio books, staying up to date on current events, and visiting with his family.
A private memorial service will be held on July 25th and his ashes will be scattered in Lake Michigan at a later date.
