Audra, Stacey, David, and the entire family, I was most saddened to hear of Lillie Faye’s passing. Thought of her and Bill often. I know they both are together now and when I go to the Smokies which I dearly love too, I will listen for them in the rustle of the wind in the trees and in the blue smoke over the mountains. We were all very close friends for many years and even though after moving to NC we still tried to hold our deep friendship true. I came by to see Lillie Faye and Bill about a year before Bill’s passing on my way home from the beach. Bill recognized me, right away and called me by BC which he had bestowed upon me many years ago when we all were racing. We all were a pack alright. But Lillie Faye didn’t recognize me until I called her Lillie Faye and she recognized my voice. I had not seen the house after all the details were finished. We came to visit some during the long process of tearing down, tearing out, and making it livable. She gave me the tour and it was beautiful. The love, time, and craftsmanship that went into that house made it a beautiful home. I still have the jelly cabinet Bill made and I proudly display it in my home. I want you children to know that your Mom and Dad meant a lot to you all but they also remain in the hearts of many others back here in Virginia especially me. I’ll always cherish them and plan on joining them one day in that heavenly home they both share together now.
