Obituary of Agnes Rigsbee

Please share a memory of Agnes to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Agnes Neville Rigsbee, 86, of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024 at AuthoraCare Collective in Burlington, NC.

Agnes was born October 12, 1937, to the late Glenn and Tiney Reagan Neville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Rigsbee, her son, Rodney Rigsbee, and her sister, Glenda Copeland.

Agnes is survived by her daughter, Gina Insko (husband, Kurt Insko) of Chapel Hill; son, Randy Rigsbee (wife, Jennifer Rigsbee) of Chapel Hill; granddaughter, Ashton Sullivan (husband, Jordan Sullivan) of Ocean Isle Beach; grandson, Thomas Insko of Chapel Hill; grandson, Austin Rigsbee of Chapel Hill; great-grandson, Ellis Sullivan of Ocean Isle Beach. She is also survived by her siblings, Betty Ornsbey, Albert Neville (wife, Debbie Neville), Debbie Paschal, and many nieces and nephews.

Agnes enjoyed good ol’ classic county music, traveling, and North Carolina barbeque, but most of all, she loved her family. She would take advantage of every opportunity to get together with them for a meal and fellowship.

Agnes worked in retail for the majority of her adult life. Her last job was at a local drugstore, where she retired after 38 years of service. She adored her customers, and they did her as well. One of her favorite customers was Dean Smith, former UNC Men’s Basketball coach.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Allison Bland, Connie Cole, and Albert and Debbie Neville. Thank you for taking such great care of our Mama during this unpredictable journey. It meant the world to us. In addition, we would like to thank the staff at AuthoraCare Collective. The staff was amazing with Mama’s care and with the support they provided for the family through this difficult process.

A funeral service will be held at Union Grove United Methodist Church, 6401 Union Grove Church Rd, Hillsborough, NC 27278 on August 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM. The service will be officiated by Rev. Michael Copeland and Rev. Lindsay Collins. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to AuthoraCare Collective, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.

Walker’s Funeral Home in Hillsborough will be handling the funeral arrangements.
