Obituary of William Monroe Knight, Jr.

William Monroe Knight, Jr. (Bill) was born on June 30, 1965 in Durham, NC.  He grew up in Hillsborough, NC where he graduated from Orange High School in 1983.  He played football, baseball and wrestling during his school years.  Bill attended UNC Pembrook as well as Alamance Community College where he graduated BLET.  In 1991, he joined the DMV and was assigned to the Hillsborough Weigh Station.  In 2002, Bill became part of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol where he remained until his retirement in 2020.  He was a Sergeant with the DMV and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol where he supervised many people who became friends and those friendships have remained throughout his 31 years in law enforcement.  In 2002, he met his wife Jo Anna and they were married in May, 2003.  They have two children and lived in Rocky Mount.  He was preceeded in death by his father, William Monroe Knight, Sr.; his grandparents Oscar & Kathleen Brewington and John A. & Gladys Johnson; his in laws, J.A. and Ann Brickhouse.  He was survived by his mother Katherne Johnson Knight; his wife, Jo Anna Brickhouse Knight; his children, William M. Knight III (They) & Catherine Knight (Katie); his sister, Lori Knight Berry (Jay) & his nephew Grant Monroe Berry; an uncle and many aunts and cousins.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:   Bethany Church of Christ, 4012 Crosswinds drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27803 NC Troop LALA NC Troopers Inc.
