Obituary of Schuyler Leigh Emerson

Left us at the the young age of 19 on Wednesday May 16, 2012 in Durham, North Carolina. Schuyler was an honor student at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC majoring in Developmental Psychology. She was on track to complete her undergraduate degree in the Spring of 2013 and planned to pursue advanced graduate studies. Schuyler graduated from Woods Charter School in Chapel Hill in 2010 with honors. Throughout her life she was an active athlete and will be remebered by all those she trained and competed with in soccer, swimming and cross country. Schuyler was kind and welcoming to everyone and will be remembered as a beautiful, fun, strong willed and determined young girl. Her infectious smile will not be forgotten. She is survived by her beloved sisters Taylor, Corey and Ellery Emerson, her father Randy Emerson, mother and step-father Drew Cederlund Rockett and Greg Rocket, grandparents Will and Bob Emerson, step- brother and sister Robert and Rachel Rocket and a vast extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, live plants are welcome and donations appreciated in her name to the Woods Charter School Foundation - www.woodscharterfoundation.org. A family visitation will take place on Sunday May 20 from 6-8pm at Walkers Funeral Home, 120 E. Franklin St. t in Chapel Hill and a memorial service will be held at Resurrection United Methodist Church, 4705 Old Chapel Hill Rd., Durham.
