Plezzy Harbor Craig, Jr. (P.H. Craig) passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17 at Duke Hospital in Durham. P.H. was born on 11/06/1937 in Spray, NC to Plezzy Harbor Craig, Sr. and Mary Alice Thornton Craig.
In addition to his parents, P.H. was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Brewington, brother-in-law, Oscar Brewington, nephews William M. Knight, Sr. Larry Gray Knight and great-nephew, William M. Knight, Jr.
P.H. grew up in Hillsborough, NC and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1955. After high school, he attended UNC Chapel Hill and graduated with a BS in Business Administration. Between 1963 and 1965, he was in a two-year accelerated program in the UNC Law School. He also was a Graduate Counselor for the UNC Dean of Men.
After college, P.H. joined the Foushee Realty Sales Team from 1965 to 1971. At this time, he opened P.H. Craig Real Estate, which he actively ran until his death. P.H. achieved much success throughout his career. He was a Certified Commercial Real Estate Appraiser, President of the Chapel Hill Board of Realtors 1980. He was a recipient of FOUNDERS AWARD and COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD, and NC GOP HALL OF FAME recipient in 1996. He was a charter member of Hillsborough Toastmasters club, a member of the UNC Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and member of UNC Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity. He was a former member of the Hillsborough Moose Lodge and a NC State Senate nominee in 1998. In 2016, P.H. was the recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine presented to him by the NC Governor.
P.H. was a proud member of the US Naval Reserve where he served on the USS Purdy (DD734) and on the USS Stump (DD978) as an Executive Officer.
P.H. is survived by nephew Bobby R Knight Sr (Linda) and niece Laverne Knight Martin. Great nephews, David Tony Squires, Timothy Martin, Larry Craig Knight, Bobby Ray Knight, Bobby Ray Knight Jr. and Ross Knight. Great nieces Tammy Martin and Lori Berry. Nieces by marriage, Kathy Knight and Glenda Knight. Also, many great-great nieces and nephews and close friend, Sharon Van Vechten.
P.H. had a passion for restoring old autos. Three of the cars restored by him are in the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer NC. Three of his vehicles are with NC Historical Sites and rotated throughout the state to various events and state facilities. He also loved to restore old houses, painting and carpentry work. As a younger man he enjoyed playing tennis with his buddies.

There will be a visitation on Friday, November 22 from 1:00 to 1:45 PM at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough prior to the service at 2:00 PM.
