Julia Rebecca Bray, 97, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 18, 2017 in Durham, North Carolina.
She is survived by her daughters Sylvia Greenlee (Jim) of Durham, Gloria Dunagan (Larry) of Goulds, Florida, Patsy Day (Gary) of Sebring, Florida and a son George Wing of Wilmington, Vermont. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Rudy Bray.
Julia was born February 2, 1920 in Huntsville, Alabama. She lived in Homestead, Florida for 32 yrs before moving to Lake City, Florida in 1982. In 1996 she moved to Lake Placid, Florida to be closer to daughters Patsy and Gloria. For the last 11 years she resided in Durham, NC with daughter Sylvia and husband Jim.
While raising her family in Homestead she found time to be a Girl Scout leader and a 4H leader. She also enjoyed working part time for Sears in Homestead for 10 years, where she made many friends. She always offered a place at her table, a welcoming meal for friends and family. She had a passion for gardening and sharing her knowledge with others. A talented seamstress she loved designing and making clothing. At 95 she was still using her sewing skills to repair and alter clothing for others. People knew her as a good and giving person. She will be missed.
A graveside service will be held Saturday June 3rd 11 AM at the Forest Lawn Memorial Garden Cemetery in Lake City, Florida.
