Obituary of Harlan Leigh King

CHAPEL HILL - Harlan Leigh King, a resident of Durham County, died Tuesday morning, February 21, after months of declining health. He was born in Durham County to the late John Wesley King and Sallie Selena Pope King. He was the youngest of eleven children and was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 4 sisters. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ada Mae Perry King. Mr. King is survived by two sons, Jimmy King and wife, June of Chapel Hill; and Kenneth King and wife, Connie, also of Chapel Hill; four grandchildren, Keith King (Danielle), Angela Boyette (Doug), Kelli Knutsen (Kristian), Ken King (Rebecca), and one great-grandson, Patrick King. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 25, at 11:00AM at Ephesus Baptist Church, with Reverend Harry Byrd presiding. The family will receive family and friends at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. The family was assisted with cremation by Walker's Funeral Home.
