Obituary of Shirley Coggins Mason

Shirley Coggins Mason, of Chapel Hill, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at her home. Born on November 23,1935 in Walstonburg, NC, she lived and worked in Richmond, VA, and Chapel Hill, NC. Shirley achieved a Doctorate of Education from North Carolina State University, Raleigh. She taught at UNC-CH, School of Nursing, from 1971 until her retirement in 2007. Shirley attended Chapel of the Cross Church in Chapel Hill. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Robert. Survivors include her loving husband, Robert L. Mason and devoted Mother, Addie Mae Coggins. Also, surviving is Richard Cristopher Coggins(nephew) of Winterville, NC , his wife Fran and their daughter, Brittney; Leslie Michelle(Coggins) Shore(niece) of Garner, NC, her husband Chris and their sons; Joshua, Jordan and daughter Jessica. Preceding in death are Archie L. Coggins(Father) and Archie Leslie Coggins(Brother). Visitation will be Sunday, January 22 from 2 to 4 PM at Walkers Funeral Home, 120 West Franklin St., Chapel Hill. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM at the Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church, 304 East Franklin St., Chapel Hill on Saturday, January 28th.
