Obituary of Mavor Wright Godfrey

GODFREY HILLSBOROUGH - Mavor W. Godfrey passed away November 1, 2011 at her residence. She was born May 28, 1916 to Olin S. Wright and Annie Roberts Wright. Her husband, L. C. Godfrey preceded her in death. She owned and operated Godfrey's Apartments and Cottages at Carolina Beach for 30 years. She returned to Cedar Grove where she became active in the Cedar Grove Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Hi Liters Square Dance Group and the Durham Twirlers. She is survived by her sister, Madlin Witt Fogleman of Graham; nieces, Penny W. Parker (Tommy) and Jane Fogleman; two great nephews, Chad Flynt and Watt Parker; and one great niece, Terri Parker. She was preceded in death by her brothers Melvin Wright and Maurice Wright and nephew Jimmy Fogleman. The funeral service will be 1 o'clock Thursday in Cedar Grove Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will follow the service.
