Obituary of Edward Michael Jones

HILLSBOROUGH - Edward Michael Jones, age 64, of Hillsborough died Thursday, September 29, 2011 in the VA Hospital in Durham. He was born in Alamance County and was the son of Robert Edward Jones and Mary Athalean Johnson Jones. He was preceded in death by his father. He attended Orange County Schools and was a US Army Veteran having served in Vietnam and Korea from May 8, 1970 to December 22, 1971 and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded. He worked in heating and air conditioning at General Service Corp. Surviving in addition to his mother, are one daughter, Holly Jones, and son Michael Jones, both of Hillsborough; one step-son, Steve Fisher, Jr., of Mebane; one sister, Joanne Jones, and one brother, Gerald Jones, both of Hillsborough. Visitation will be held at Walker's Funeral Home in Hillsborough on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 2:30 PM at Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington. Officiating will be the Rev. Lonnie Bell.
