Jon, Toni and family, Mo was indeed a charmer. I first learned that 60 years ago when I found she was the best source for cookies in the neighborhood. Duane and LaVerne were neighbors (3 times), fast friends, co-workers and fellow volunteers with my folks and our family. LaVerne was a charming presence my whole life. It was such a joy to have her in Chapel Hill in these final years. The beautiful family you share is a testimony to her loving presence. She did a great job raising you, and you did a great job supporting her in these final years. Joy and happiness fill my heart when I think of Mo and all she meant to me and my family. I have fond memories and always smile when I think of LaVerna. (And I think of her every time I get my ceramic holiday decorations out; just a week ago was the pumpkins and ghosts!!) I worked with her at Handicapped Systems in Cedar Rapids in late 1970s. She was full of life and energy, putting us who were a little younger to shame! She would help out any way she could; when she was pulled from the "Arts and Crafts" room to help in other areas or on outings in the community. She was great working with people with disabilities, and I think really enjoyed it. We loved having her help and ideas. She was truly a great lady!! I share a little bit in the family's loss. Loved your Mom. Loved your family. Loved Lassie...the most memorable dog of my childhood. Remember how we used to dress her up and push her around in a buggy? I have fond memories of hanging around your house cutting through the back yard to get to your house more quickly. I also love the times Mo and you hung around my moms table for long and juicy catch ups. whenever I see a button I think of her and button notecards she even made a tiny christmas tree 1 year decorated with buttons. I thought she was the craftiest person I knew. This is 'Good' Lesson to me-don't put of what you want to do!I wanted to come up and visit you and Mo and meet Russ. it teaches me to not let life things get in the way of life's more iimportant moments you were a great daughter...a true testament And legacy to how great she was. So sorry to hear of Mo's passing. We all truly thought the world of her. She did so much for our father. She helped make his later years much happier.
