Obituary of Hazel Hope Edmonds King

DANVILLE, VA - Hazel Hope Edmonds King, 88, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Danville Regional Hospital. The daughter of the late Sherman and Narvellia Edmonds, Hazel was born on February 22, 1923 in Mt. Airy, NC. Hazel is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Frank King; three children, Phyllis King, Joseph King, and Robert King; one brother; three sisters; and one grandchild. Hazel is survived by two sons, James King of Sanford, and David King of Mebane; one daughter, Stella Pennington of Danville, VA; two brothers, Sherman "Bill" Edmonds, and John Edmonds; three sisters, Gertrude Freeman, Murry Briles, and Linda Taylor; seven grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 12063 US 15 501 Highway Chapel Hill, NC 27516, at 11:00AM with Pastor Mark Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Carrboro. Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill, 919-942-3861 is assisting the King family.
