Obituary of Angela Callanan Joseph
Please share a memory of Angela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Angela Joseph was born in Farmington, CT, but soon moved with her parents to NC where she lived her entire life. She attended St. Thomas More Parish School, graduated from East Chapel Hill HS (1998), earned her B. A. (Duke, 2002) and her Masters in English (UNC-CH, 2008). Angela resided in Durham and then Hillsborough with her husband, Dr. James Adlai Joseph, close to her parents, Roger and Nancy Callanan, and her brother and friend, Brandy Michael Callanan. Angela lived life fully, joyfully and passionately, cherished James, their extraordinary family and friends, and was especially dedicated to her students at Raleigh Charter High School (RCHS) where she taught English since 2003 (for a memoriam of Angela: https://www.raleighcharterhs.org/).
In addition to those already mentioned, Angela is survived and loved by her extended family, including Don and Synthia Joseph, their daughters (Angela's brothers- and sisters-in-love Nora and Ken, Abigayil and Matt), and grandchildren; and James' and Angela's aunts, uncles and cousins. Angela delighted in each of her many cousins, their spouses, and their children who supported and encouraged her in so many loving ways.
A memorial service is being coordinated by Raleigh Charter High School for students, colleagues and friends of Angela and her family, Friday, September 2, 200:00-3:30 PM at the Longview Center, 118 S. Person St., off Moore Square in downtown Raleigh.
A celebration of Angela's life will also take place Saturday, September 3, 1:00-3:00 PM at Walker's Funeral Home, 204 N. Churton St., Hillsborough. In lieu of flowers, Angela's family requests that donations be made in her name to the RCHS Phoenix Fund (https://www.raleighcharterhs.org/giving/onlinegiving/).
